Part 1 here.
After that evening, I decided to be more cautious. I don’t want to look stupid or taken for granted by any dude. My guards are always up, call me independent woman. I’ve had my share of disappointments, and I’ve learnt never expect anything from anyone or think someone likes you until they ask you out. Even if they do everything possible to send signals, in this situation, action don’t speak louder than words.
The most interesting part of our friendship is that we love the same things; hobby, career wise and our spontaneity makes it much more exciting. I’ve never met anyone more adventurous. You send me songs you just discovered and I usually love them too.
Two weeks later, you called me to come downstairs. You wanted to know my plan for my birthday coming up in two weeks; I told you the usual; cake, small chops and punch. You insisted I had the celebration in the afternoon but you didn’t tell me why, eventhough I enquired persistently throughout our chat that evening.
I got tired and I told you I was going upstairs and you said, “I think I’m liking you. “
I then thought of how I could help you keep to your word of nothing ever happening between us.
“Akin, maybe we should reduce the amount of time we spend together.”
We smiled and I walked away.
To be continued…
